女性的重生:西爾維婭·普拉斯《鐘形罩》之疾病敘事解讀

西爾維婭·普拉斯(1932-1963)被認為是美國當代文學中著名的自白派詩人和小說家。她的作品帶有強烈的精神分析色彩,深入洞察和表現(xiàn)了 20世紀中期美國父權制社會中女性的境遇。其自傳體小說《鐘形罩》生動展示了美國知識女性的精神困境。作為受壓迫的女性和被異化的精神病患者,主人公埃斯特用第一人稱視角敘事,為讀者呈現(xiàn)了精神病患者眼中別樣的世界和其所承受的雙重精神壓力。本文擬從疾病敘事的角度研究埃斯特精神疾病的本質(zhì)、源起,挖掘文本中普拉斯所隱含的女性重生的啟示。首先,論文借助亞瑟·弗蘭克的疾病敘事模型對小說進行文本分析,發(fā)現(xiàn)埃斯特在自我意識的模式和變化趨勢上表現(xiàn)出的與疾病敘事的相同之處。埃斯特的這些疾病敘事特征表明其精神疾病實質(zhì)上是對父權制社會和主流“健全社會”雙重壓迫所做出的反應。此外,本文還從疾病敘事理論視域探討這部小說的開放式結尾,以期對小說的“重生”主題獲得更深刻的認知。這一部分通過分析埃斯特精神疾病的原因,重點論述埃斯特是通過重建作為女性和健全人的主體性、抗爭社會對精神疾病的畸形建構以及追尋專業(yè)的醫(yī)學權威來實現(xiàn)女性的重生。
